The official agenda has not been released but it is believed the meeting is to discuss the search for a new head football coach and athletic director at Westover High School.
Westover High principal William Chunn notified school faculty Friday afternoon that Monroe track coach Octavia Jones is being recommended to the school board to become the Patriots head football coach.
WALB News Ten Sports has confirmed with contacts at Monroe and at the Dougherty County School System that Jones is being recommended for the Westover job.
Principal Chunn would not confirm that in an e-mail to WALB News Ten Sports Monday afternoon.
Jones, who has won five state track titles at Monroe, has also been an assistant football coach at Monroe but is not a coordinator on the staff of current Tornadoes head coach Charles Truitt.
Jones did play at Monroe when Westover High principal William Chunn was the head coach during the 1990's.
Longtime Westover assistant coach Danny Blaylock was also a candidate for the Westover job.
Blaylock has served as the defensive coordinator for the Patriots.
The full Dougherty County School Board could vote on the Jones recommendation next Monday.
