VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –First District Congressman Jack Kingston says listening to the voters will be the key to winning re-election.

Kingston says he gets out of Washington as much as possible.

He's visited six cities in his district since Thursday.

He also says the Republican party needs a clearer platform.

"I think we should have a platform to push the republican party into adopting something like the Contract of America and people will say if I vote republican what am I going to get done and what are you guys going to do," said Kingston.

Kingston doesn't have opposition in the Republican primary.

Retired farmer Oscar Harris from Screven is running as a Democrat.
