ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  A protective pet scared off burglars who broke into a west Albany home while the homeowner slept Monday.

Police roped off the home and dusted for prints after burglars broke into the Marbury Drive home just before one o'clock Monday afternoon. Patricia Moreschi's dog Bailey, a Husky-Shepherd mix, let out a low, deep bark waking her.

She then heard a crashing sound and called police. Her front screen door was ripped off its hinges. Police searched the house and believe Bailey interrupted the burglary. The suspects left items piled up in one of the rooms.

Police searched the neighborhood but made no arrests. This is just one of several burglaries that's happened recently in the neighborhood.
