Courthouse gets a security boost

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Sheriff's deputies will soon have a new tool to aid them in keeping the Dougherty County courthouse secure.

The current x-ray machine in the courthouse lobby is about 15 years old. While it still works, it is outdated. Monday, the county commission voted to purchase a larger high performance x-ray imaging system.

Deputy Jimmy Stephenson said, "Well, we want to do the best job we can do and make sure that these things don't get in this building and the only way to do that is to have good equipment to work with and we appreciate everything we can use to do the job the way it should be done."

The x-ray system will cost about $38,000 and be paid for with grant money.
