Albany State reaches SIAC baseball championship

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The Albany State baseball team didn't get an expected matchup with west division champion Stillman in their third game at the SIAC baseball tournament.

The Rams had no problem getting up to beat Benedict 16-6 in seven innings.

Albany State jumped out to a 7-1 lead but Benedict cut the lead to three with three runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Albany State answered with a 4 spot in their half of the fifth and scored four more in the sixth.

Lead-off hitter Corbin Williams drove in four runs and scored two more on three hits.

De'Marcus Price was 2-4 with a run score and shortstop Williams Smalls continues his hot hitting in this tournament with a 4-5 game and two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Albany State will now play either Benedict or Stillman in the championship game at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Paul Eames Complex.
