CAMILLA, GA (WALB) - The Mitchell County Pro Tennis Invitational reaches another milestone this year when the event
The pros are back in Camilla and the matches begin Friday morning at the Mitchell County Tennis Center.
Tournament founder Eddie Williamson is very proud his small tournament has been able to raise over a million dollars for charities like the Mitchell-Baker Service Center and the Boys Club.
The tournament has also created a love for tennis in Mitchell County.
Local pro David Buerkle is teaching some 300 students a week and the new clay courts are also home to many great local players.
Eddie Williamson said. "Outside of Columbus, Georgia and Atlanta, we are the only county that has public clay courts. So, we are real proud of that."
The 35th annual Mitchell County Pro Tennis Invitation is Friday through Sunday at the Mitchell County Tennis Center in Camilla.
