ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Darton College honored some of its best and brightest Wednesday night.

At Darton's annual Honors Ceremony, awards were presented for outstanding student activity, service to the college, and excellence in each academic discipline.

Organizers say it's important to recognize students who excel.

"When they work hard in school and they perform well it's preparing them to work or to go and further their education, and the foundation they're getting from Darton College will carry with them for the rest of their lives," Dr. Peter J. Sireno Darton College President.

In addition to the dozens of student awards, faculty and staff were honored.

Dr. Stacy Marshall was named teacher of the year.
