ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A man was injured in a burglary just before 10 o'clock Wednesday night.

Immediately after the incident police were looking for three men who broke into the apartment attacked the man who lives there, and fired a shot.

Police say the 24-year-old victim and his girlfriend returned to 105 East Road Apartment-A and noticed the front door was ajar.

The man walked inside to check it out and came across three men with t-shirts covering their faces.

Police say they attacked the victim and hit him in the head with a gun.

As the victim ran out the door, one of the burglars fired a gunshot, but no one was struck.  The woman with the victim was not hurt.

Police say the man's head injury is serious, but we don't think it is life threatening.

We don't have a good description of the criminals, and we don't know the victim's name, but we'll keep following the story.
