TIFTON, GA (WALB) –Representatives with the Georgia Department of Labor's Rapid Response Team will head to Tifton Thursday to help Shaw industries workers try to find new jobs.

Tuesday, Shaw announced it will close its spun yarn plant in Tifton. That will put 375 people out of work.

Shaw is working with the Labor Department to offer one-on-one counseling sessions, explain benefits and provide out-placement and retraining help.

Officials with the Tifton Chamber of Commerce say they'll be there to help the laid off workers too.

"We are also going to provide an on site transition center to help employees with the resumes, their job search how to even go about a job search," said Starling Bussey, Manager of the Tifton Career Center.

The Tifton Career center will contact area employers to find out what job possibilities may be available to the workers who are losing their jobs.
