ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Monroe Lady Tornadoes showed they have the speed, strength and jumping ability to win a second straight AAA team title next week's Georgia High School Association girls state track meet.
The Lady Tornadoes tally 245 points to easily beat rival Westover for the 1-AAA title.
Mimieux Land won the high jump, long jump and triple jump contests.
Makeia Davis won the 100 and 200 meter, Davone Anduze won the 400 meter and Lakeisha Jackson won both hurdles.
Monroe finished first and second in least seven events.
That gives the Lady Tornadoes two entries in those events at the state meet.
The Bainbridge Lady Bearcats won the region 1-AAAA title.
Tift County girls edge Lowndes for the 1-AAAAA girls title.
The GHSA girls state track meet begins May 6th at Hugh Mills Stadium.
