ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Albany's Gang Unit is growing. Tuesday night, city commissioners agreed to give the unit about $200,000 from the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia Trust Fund. The Albany Police Department plans to use the money to buy needed equipment and to hire two new gang officers and a clerical worker for the unit. Last year, the Gang Unit arrested 407 people.
