ATLANTA, GA (WALB) –  Former Dougherty D. A. Ken Hodges formally put in his qualifying documents to run for Georgia attorney general.

Hodges made his filing Monday at the state Capitol with his family in attendance. 

His campaign has raised a half million dollars so far in his first time bid for statewide office.

"I'm the only democratic candidate for Attorney General who has supervised litigation in thousands of cases and led investigations into many notorious criminal cases, including the assassination of DeKalb's Sheriff Derwin Brown," Hodges said.  "As the only Democratic candidate with extensive trial experience, I have personally argued and won cases before the highest courts in Georgia."

A strong race is expected from Republican candidate Sam Olens, who chairs the Cobb County Commission and the Atlanta

Hodges are Olens are two of four men running for the nomination to succeed Thurbert Baker.
