COLUMBUS, GA (WALB) -    The Albany State softball team has reclaimed the top spot in the SIAC.

Deanna Birdsong hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Lady Rams a 6-4 win over Fort Valley State in the championship game.

It is the third title in the last four years for the Lady Rams and the fifth in just the eight-year history of the ASU softball program.

The Lady Rams now earn a berth in the DII regionals.
