ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darton beat Georgia Perimeter 6-2 in the first of a crucial three game series for both teams Friday night at Cavalier Field.
Darton scored three runs in the first and got a solid pitching performance from Kevin Bibler.
Darton now has a two game lead over Georgia Perimeter in the GJCAA standings.
The Cavaliers will clinch the second seed by sweeping a doubleheader Saturday.
A split could knock Darton down in the standings since South Georgia and Gordon College are right there in the standings where four teams are trying to get the three berths that guarantee home field advantage in the first round series of the region tournament.
Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start 1:00 p.m. at Cavalier Field.
