ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  This nice weather is coming to an abrupt end.  Severe weather is likely starting Saturday morning.

Emergency Management Officials held a conference call Friday afternoon about the potential for severe weather this weekend. The storm has already dropped tornados in Texas. The National Weather Service indicated most of the severe weather could stay to the northwest of Albany. Emergency management officials say with hurricane season right around the corner this might be a good chance for many in southwest Georgia to get their yards storm ready.

"Take a look at your home, take a look at the landscaping, the tree around your house. If you have some limbs that need to be pruned better to get them off now than have them blown by wind and crash through your roof," said Jim Vaught, EMA Deputy Director.

In training last week emergency responders learned the Atlantic Ocean is two degrees warmer this year than it's ever been setting the region up for the potential of more hurricanes this season. Hurricane season starts June first.
