ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Panthers quarterback Cecil Lester is certainly making the most of his chance to the number one quarterback.
Lester has thrown 17 touchdown passes in his first two games as the starting quarterback.
He also has been named the Southern Indoor Football League's offensive player of the week for both of those games.
Lester has been the backup for his last three years with the South Georgia Wildcats and before that in Macon.
Lester says he is gaining confidence with each game he starts but admits it was different coming to training camp this year knowing he was the guy other quarterbacks were trying to beat for his starting job.
Cecil Lester said. "In the years past when it came to beating out the other guys, I was up to beating out the competition. I worked hard and I pushed the guys. This year it was your job to lose and I was determined to turn that negative into a positive and be the guy".
The Panthers host Greenville at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Albany Civic Center.
