Referendum on peanut commission

April 16, 2003

Georgia Peanut farmers are deciding if they want to keep Peanut Commission.

Georgia peanut producers invest $2 per ton each year to the commission. It's used for research, education, and promotion of peanuts. Ballots were mailed out this week and must be returned by May 14th. If two thirds of voters do not support the commission, the five member board will be abolished.
