ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The Dougherty County School Board continues negotiations with their new superintendent and are expected to present a counter offer as early as Friday.

Last week, board members met behind closed doors to discuss the draft contract Dr. Joshua Murfree and his attorney worked up.

The board suggested changes to the proposal and Murfree is expected to receive the board's offer by Friday.

The negotiations are expected to continue until the board gets a contract they're able to accept.

Last week, the board named Murfree the best available candidate for the job and applied for a certification waiver.

The Professional Standards Commission act as quickly as possible on that request.
