Moody AFB searches for missing jet part

LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) – Moody Air Force Base officials want you to be on the lookout for a part that fell off a jet. A chaff module fell off an A10C during a training flight Monday.

The module is a small metal box that contains up to 30 bundles of chaff which are square strips of metal foil with plastic end caps dropped by aircraft to confuse enemy radar. If the module is disturbed, it could fire and eject the chaff.

If you see it, don't touch it. Call Moody's 23rd Wing Command Post immediately at 257-3501. Officials say the module should be somewhere between Moody, Lakeland, Dupont, Homerville, and Pearson.
