ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Gangs are leaving their marks on property all over the city of Albany. City commissioner Jon Howard says more gang graffiti is showing up on buildings in Albany.

He says it's important for people to report graffiti when they notice it, so gang symbols aren't the first thing people see when they come into Albany.

Howard said, "Graffiti itself really hurts the commission, plus it hurts economic development and plus it sends a signal to the community that the city is not safe when you see different signs and symbols of graffiti in the community."

Call police if you see graffiti on a building. To find out more, you can go to an informational meeting about gang graffiti and the price taxpayers pay because of it at 10 AM Saturday at the East Albany Community center on Oglethorpe Boulevard.
