ATHENS, GA (WALB) - It's unknown who will be the starting quarterback in 2010 for the Georgia Football team but it won't be Zach Mettenberger.
Head coach Mark Richt has dismissed the red shirt freshman from the team. According to an announcement from Richt, the dismissal is for violating team rules. In March Richt suspended Mettenberger from at least the first game of the 2010 season because of his alcohol related arrest in Remerton, on five misdemeanor charges.
Remerton police told WALB that the investigation continues of the incidents involving Mettenberger's arrest on March 7th.
According to Georgia assistant sports information director Claude Felton Mettenberger wasn't involved in any other incidents that led to Richt's decision to kick him off the team.
The dismissal leaves two quarterbacks on Georgia's roster; red shirt freshman Aaron Murray and junior Logan Gray.
Record-setting Lassiter quarterback Hutson Mason will join the Bulldogs this summer as an incoming freshman.
Richt is expected to release a quarterback depth chart later this week.
