Information from the South GA Patriots

ALBANY, GA - (WALB) - The Southwest Georgia Patriots will hold the Albany Area Tea Party Saturday, April 17, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds in Albany.

"Our intent with the April 17 Albany Area Tea Party is to raise awareness of our concern at the direction our country is taking," said Donna Driskell, SWGA Patriots president. "The Tea Party national movement is non-partisan and stands on the principles established by our founding fathers: constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility and the free market system."

"We intend to let our elected officials know that we expect them to adhere to the Constitution that they swore to uphold or we will replace them in November with individuals who will."

Lenny McAllister, a writer, community activist and up-and-coming voice in the grass roots conservative movement, will be the keynote speaker. McAllister, author of Diary of a Mad Black P.Y.C. (Proud Young Conservative), has been featured as a commentator and a guest on numerous media outlets, including Glenn Beck, CNN and XM Radio.

McAllister has been noted nationally for his ability to provide strong conservative points of view from an African-American perspective that reflects both backgrounds proudly. He is a leading force behind the political movement Hip Hop Republicans.

Local speakers will include attorney T. Gamble and radio personality Matt Patrick. Musical entertainment will be provided by the band Thick Ankle Nancy. Food by Moe's Southwest Grill and Maggie Moo's will be available for purchase. Event will take place rain or shine. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and shade umbrellas.

For more information, contact Donna Driskell at 881-0717.
