MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) – A disturbing neglect case in Moultrie.

Two caregivers are in jail charged in what investigators call one of the worst elder abuse cases they've ever seen.

Police arrested 34-year-old Tosha Chambers and 55-year-old Royce Dillard, Jr. shortly after paramedics were called to their home on 3rd Street Northwest.

Authorities haven't formally booked Dillard, so we don't have his picture yet.

Investigators found 74-year-old Christine Welch badly malnourished.

They say she had maggots in bed sores and gangrene so severe that both feet will have to amputated.  She lived at the home with her caregivers.

Welch was stable Thursday night at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Chambers and Dillard are in the Colquitt County Jail charged with cruelty to a person 55 or older.
