VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –A candidate for Georgia Attorney General says his top priority would be fighting the federal health care law.
Sam Olens spoke to the Lowndes County Bar Association Thursday. He's practiced law for three decades and served as the Cobb County Commission Chairman. He says if elected, he'll join other state attorneys general to fight the health care law.
"First, I would immediately join the lawsuit in Florida and would overtly question the constitutionality of the health care bill," said Olens. "Secondly, I'd be gearing up for redistricting. We know with the special session next year after the census we will be in litigation over redistricting."
Olens also said it's vital to rewrite the sunshine laws to hold elected officials to higher standards of openness.
