ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The National Humane Society is taking bold steps to try to persuade a Thomasville company to change some of its business practices.

They bought $2,000 worth of shares in Flowers Foods to try to pressure the company to not use egg suppliers that confine hens in battery cages. The $2,000 worth of shares is the federal minimum required for any shareholder to submit resolutions to a publicly traded company.

A representative at Flowers Foods declined to issue a statement.
