ALBANY, GA (WALB) – You may think you car insurance premium is high now there's a new survey to support that opinion.
Georgia has the eighth highest car insurance rates in America according to insure-dot-com.
The average Georgia driver pays more than $1,750 a year.
That compares with Maine's average of $900.
One Albany company says you need to shop for the best price before you renew your policy and ask about discounts.
"One factor is a lot of people don't realize if they carry continuous coverage for at least six months then you're eligible for a proof of prior discount," Brent Owens, Southern Harvest Insurance Agency.
The state with the highest average for car insurance was Louisiana.
