VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –Police think a couple of serial burglars may be responsible for a break-in at a south Georgia mayor's home.

One of those suspects is still on the run Wednesday night.

Remerton Mayor Cornelius Holsendolph's wife Alma caught two burglars in the act when she returned home on Myrtle Street Monday.

She scared them off as they tried to steal a TV, but the men did get away with jewelry.

They broke out a back window with a fire extinguisher to get inside after they tried kicking in the door.

"We don't have any proof yet they're related but it's not too far fetched," said Remerton Police Chief Mike Terrell. "Lowndes County had quite a few on Monday. We had one. The city had a few so if we can tie them together we'd certainly like to do that."

21-year old suspect Shermaine Manning is still on the run Wednesday.

Lowndes County deputies caught his suspected partner, 20-year old Rashawn Sirmans as he drove away after burglarizing a home on Robin Lane.
