ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Tech basketball coach Sylvester Patterson believes his young program is very close to winning their first state title.
The problem is the many of the players who have led the Titans to the state semifinals in the last two seasons are moving on.
That is why coach Patterson says the spring recruiting period is very crucial.
The Titans signing four players at school today.
They include three players from the national champion Turner Job Corps team in Demond Stewart from Albany, Triquenski Hicks from Wadley and Andrew Reason from Lakeland Florida and wing player Michael Cofield from Sound Doctrine.
Coach Patterson has had great success in recruiting from Turner Job Corps where he found current Albany State star Truett O'Neal.
Sylvester Patterson said. "The last three years we have recruiting kids from Turner Job Corps. As you know Truett O'Neal came in from Turner Job Corps. He came in and played right away. Led us in scoring. Went over to Albany State and led them in scoring. They come in ready to play."
The Titans have also signed point guard Patrick Adams from McAdams, Mississippi and guard Tristan Delaney from Troup High in LaGrange.
Coach Patterson is still recruiting several needed post players.
