ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  An 18-year-old Americus teen was wounded Tuesday night.

Americus Police were called around 8:00 PM to the area outside 124 West Peppermint Street.

Police say there was a gathering and a group of men were looking at a handgun.

Witnesses say the hand gun was dropped and fired. John Tevon Smith was shot once in the stomach. He was hospitalized with internal injuries.

Police say they're still trying to track down witnesses and the names of those involved.
