ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Volunteers honors hundreds of cancer survivors Monday night as the American Cancer Society gets ready for its 25th annual Relay for Life.

Hundreds of survivors and caregivers attended the survivors dinner at the Hasan Temple in Albany. A birthday theme served to celebrate each year a survivor lives after having cancer.

Volunteers served Church's Fried Chicken and of course some birthday cake.

"Yes it's awesome and it's a great thing to see all these people in the community getting together because everybody has been affected by cancer and this gets them together to celebrate their achievement," said Relay for Life volunteer, Jo Clevenger.

Relay for Life begins at 7:00 Friday night at the Darton College track. Survivors will walk a lap at 7:30.
