ALBANY, GA (WALB) – It appeared for a while that one of the legislature's choices for cuts or elimination would be Georgia's 4-H program. But that idea didn't sit well with the lawmakers and the governor who vowed to protect the program.

Dougherty County extension Agent James Morgan briefed Dougherty County Commissioners on his office's services Monday. 4-H falls under county extension programs. Morgan says appears 4-H will be spared the budget ax.  Morgan said, "As it stands now, 4-H is no longer on the chopping lot out of county offices."

All extension services aren't necessarily safe, though. The agency is busy spreading the word about all the programs it provides and how important each is.
