ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Gas prices are up three cents from last week and .80 cents from a year ago, but there may be some relief ahead.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Albany is $2.75 and premium tops $3.00 a gallon. Some car dealers say the higher prices are keeping customers off their lots.

"Even thought people do need that transportation with gas prices being high it makes people kind of not want to buy a car this time of year they kind of wait to see what gas prices will do, because gas is so high," said Al Davis, Georgia Car Credit.

Analysts say with more product coming into the market, gas prices are expected to hold and perhaps even fall. Albany's price per gallon is less than the national average at $2.85. The lowest price per gallon is in New Jersey where the average price is $2.64 a gallon.
