ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Three people were taken to the hospital after more than six vehicles collided in two crashes Monday morning on the Liberty Expressway.
Four vehicles collided just past the Jefferson Street exit, closing the north or westbound lanes around 10:00AM.
Two people were injured when the vehicles slammed into stopped traffic from the first crash ahead.
A Mercedes and tractor trailer crashed ahead of this crash, slowing traffic to a stop and sending another person to the hospital.
Albany Police say drivers need to drive more defensively, and pay more attention to what's happening on the road in front of them.
The bypass had to close for several hours while crews cleaned up the mess.
