Darton hosts 'Global' Walk/Run

ALBANY, GA - (WALB) - Darton College's Global Education Department is hosting a 'Go Global' 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk/Run Saturday morning at 8:30 at the Tennis Pavilion.

The purpose of the event is to bring about global awareness and to promote fitness, Scholarship fundraiser for international students and students who run cross-country.

Darton's Executive Dean of Global Education Ulf Kirchdorfer said, "The proceeds will be split 50-50 between cross country and international students."

Most people think of nuclear proliferation or something of that sort when they think of the word 'international,' but an event like this is more helpful on a personal level," Kirchdorfer said. "Getting in shape and thinking about participation and awareness of Global Education at Darton are our goals."

Kirchdorfer said their goal is also to "Send a South Georgia student to study abroad, which is rare for two-year schools, and we're trying to raise money for that."

The registration cost is $12 for the one mile Walk/Run, and $23 for the 5K. For more information, cal 229-317-6588.
