ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Today is the National Day of Hope to raise awareness about child abuse prevention.

As part of Child Abuse Prevention Month, Open Arms, spiritual leaders and community members gathered at Albany State University for a special service.

Open Arms, has served 400 children this year which is down from years past.

"We get cases of child abuse weekly sometimes daily and some people don't think its happening but it is happening right here in our own community," said Reginald Williams.

Today SAM's Club was on hand to present the organization with a check for 500 dollars.
