ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Albany Police made two arrests in a shootout near a day care center yesterday. The suspects are cousins.

Police say 21-year-old Dremoskie Hunt and 21-year-old Michael Stephens got into a fight at their grandparents house in the 1300 block of Tift Avenue Tuesday afternoon and fired shots at each other.

Detectives found guns in the house and drugs in a car, but they aren't sure who they belong to. Investigators also say Stephens pointed a gun at 22-year-old Brittany Harrell before the shooting started.

"Michael Stephens walked away and shots were fired toward Mr. Hunt," said APD Det. Arthur Tyler. "In return Mr. Hunt went and retrieved a gun from somewhere in the back yard, and open fire and began to shoot at Stephens."

At least one bullet hit near a window of a home day care center. Seven children were inside, but no one was hurt. Both suspects are charged with Aggravated Assault.

Hunt also had a child support warrant against him.
