LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) –Wild Adventures kicks off its season with three new rides.

Two of them are named after mascots at Valdosta and Lowndes County schools.

One coaster had a million dollar renovation and there will be new babies at the petting zoo.

Wild Adventures opened up its new season with three new rides the Flying Falcons, the Viking Voyage, and the Whirling Wildcats.

"Wild Adventures is Valdosta's home grown park and we are excited to pay tribute to our local community that support us over the years and help us grow so we named two of the three rides after our community," said Wild Adventures Public Relations Coordinator Micha Hogan.

The Viking Voyager is the park's eighth coaster. It's five stories tall.

"It goes pretty fast down the first drop," said Spring Breaker Ethan Mims. "It's real fun."

The Whirling Wildcats ride is the new scrambler and the Flying Falcons ride allows you to do the steering.

"The front sail you can control it so when you swing out you can go in and out and weave around and make it as wild as you want," said Hogan.

"I like all the new rides," said Mims.

Their traditional wooden coaster has been renovated.

The Cheetah wooden rollercoaster underwent a million dollar renovation. The park repaired part of the tracks to make it a smoother ride, while still keeping it's original thrills.

The Safari Ranch petting zoo has new baby animals including bunnies, a baby Longhorn, piglets, ducklings, donkeys, and chicks.

When you think of spring time you think of baby animals and so "Wild About Babies" is our spring time event all things cute and cuddly in the petting zoo," said Hogan.

The park will even let you groom the animals and by the end of the day you'll have some new friends.

The water park, Splash Island, opens this weekend.
