ALBANY, GA (WALB) – An Albany man pleads guilty to being part of a major multi-county marijuana growing operation, ending his federal trial that included evidence of possible public corruption.
Monday, 39 year old Jerome Fletcher pleaded guilty plea to one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. In court Friday, prosecutors played video surveillance of conversations between Fletcher and GBI co-conspirator Jeff Boyd.
During the conversation, Fletcher talked about the Lee County indoor marijuana operation and how he lost thousands when three suspects were busted. Fletcher also hinted at public corruption when he told Boyd an unnamed public official was paid to get Anthony Rutkauskus out of jail.
Fletcher will be sentenced at a later date, but could receive up to 27 years in prison.
