News release from the Georgia House of Representatives-
ATLANTA –State Representative Jimmy Pruett, Republican from Eastman, released the following statement concerning the Bleckley Probation Detention Center:
"Last week the Department of Corrections announced the closing of the Bleckley Probation Detention Center (PDC). This would have officially taken place on April 16th. Through much deliberation, the decision was reconsidered, and Bleckley PDC will remain open."
"I would like to thank the community of Cochran, its leaders, and most of all, the hard working employees of the detention center. Their efforts have made, and will continue to make, a positive impact in our community."
"I would also like to personally thank Commissioner Brian Owens' decision to reinstate the Bleckley PDC, saving 40 jobs, the loss of which in this economic downturn would have been a devastating blow to our community, the employees, and their families."
