ALBANY - Georgia's new commissioner of tourism says Albany will play a larger role in his new approach to attracting travelers.

Glenn Cornell says people are still reluctant to fly, and that's hurting airlines like Delta, and Atlanta-area hotels. But it could be good news for Albany in a regional marketing campaign.

"Albany has an opportunity, no, a responsiblity to become more of a regional center in Southwest Georgia," Glenn Cornell, Commissioner of Industry Trade and Tourism said. I think with the leadership in place in this area it will help the whole entire region."

Cornell plans to concentrate his travel Georgia campaign in TourSoutheastern states. Tourism is Georgia's second leading industry.
