ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Holy Week is the most solemn week of the year for Christians and Thursday students at St. Teresa's catholic school performed a passion play today that depicts the crucifixion of Christ in a series of scenes, or stations.

The play starts with Jesus' death sentence and portrays his crucifixion.

"This is the most important week of the year for Christians. Easter Sunday is more important that Christmas. Because on Easter Sunday, Christ rose from the dead and opened the gates of Heaven," said Mary Lou Gamache, the Principal of St. Teresa's Catholic School.

The stations of the cross passion play is an annual event at the school. Gamache says that some of the younger students look forward to getting to the 8th grade level so that they can take part in the play.
