LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) –A convicted sex offender is back in jail Thursday night in Lowndes County.

Investigators say 48-year old Roger Nielson violated is probation by hanging around places children frequent. A Lowndes County detective spotted him at two community events in March.

"We take a very proactive approach in monitoring our and tracking our sex offenders and we do a monthly verification of their home addresses and employment because of that we pretty much know them on site," said Lowndes County Lt. Stryde Jones.

The sheriff's office urges parents to report any suspicious activity where children play. The Sheriff's Office and the GBI have information and photographs of sex offenders on their web sites. Click here for Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. Click here for GBI.
