ALBANY, GA (WALB) – It's not a major victory, but any improvement in unemployment is good news.

The unemployment rate in Albany is down by two tenths of a percentage point. Job placement workers at Labor finders say they are currently placing more temporary employees because there are increased construction projects going on right now.

They believe that's a sign the economy may be turning around, at least in the Albany area.

Kellie Wilson said, "I think we're on the other side of it. I hope we are anyway, 'cause the people in this town, they need jobs. I wish we could attract some more manufacturers."

The unemployment rate in metro Albany went down to 11.4% in February, from 11.6% in January.
