ALBANY, GA (WALB) – It's time to clear out that stack of mail on your kitchen counter and make sure you've returned your census form. Thursday is national census day.

The Census Bureau hopes you'll return your form by Thursday. As of late Thursday afternoon, about 52% of Dougherty County households have participated in the census.

That's on track with the national average, but Census workers are hoping the rate will make a big jump.

Jennifer Edwards said, "We want to be at 100%. 100% is total count, accurate count and that's what we really want and that's what we're striving for."

If you lost your census form or you have a PO Box, you can pick one up at several places including the assistance center at Trumpet Ministries of God. Remember, the Census is required by law. If you don't send your form in by the end of April, expect a visit from a Census worker at your home starting in May.
