Albany-- One of the two finalists for the Dougherty County Police Chief's opening has taken another law enforcement job.
Major Leander Robinson accepted the city of Decatur police chief's job. That leaves retired Albany Police Major Don Cheek as the likely candidate for the Dougherty County Police Chief.
County Administrator Richard Crowdis said the hiring process continues on the same, despite Robinson's new job. County Administrator Richard Crowdis said "At this time the County Commission is still considering the remaining top candidate."
There is no timetable to fill the Dougherty County Police Chief's opening. The County Commission is awaiting background checks on Cheek and Robinson.
