ALBANY, GA (WALB) – An emotional vigil on the campus of Albany State University Wednesday night.

Students came together to remember one of their own killed in a roadside accident over the weekend.

The vigil was held in honor of Stephen Hudson. The 19-year-old died early Saturday morning when he and a friend were struck by a passing vehicle while attempting to change a tire on Interstate 185 near Columbus.

Friends say though the light Hudson had in his heart has been blown out they'll ensure his memory lives on. Devin Desalle was his roommate.

"We just met but me and Steve got close really quickly, he was one of those open spirits he was cool with everyone," said Devin Desalle, Victim's Roommate.

A wreath was placed at the founders grave site on campus to remember Hudson.

His funeral will be on Saturday in Douglasville.
