Consolidation passes the Senate

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A government consolidation bill passed the Georgia Senate Wednesday, but Albany and Dougherty County voters still may not get a chance to vote on it.

State Representatives say language in the bill doesn't meet House rules as local legislation. Representative Ed Rynders says he's never seen the House waive rules for local legislation, and he's not optimistic the bill will make it through the house.

Rynders says the best chance to ensure the people get to vote on consolidation is to take a House version of the consolidation bill that passed last year, amend it, and push it through the Senate.
