ALBANY, GA (WALB) –The owner of an Albany chemical manufacturing plant is the Georgia Small Business Exporter of the Year.

Mark Grimaldi and Equinox Chemicals got the honor from the Small Business Administration.

The SBA says the company is the perfect example of how a small business can grow by tapping international markets.

Since 2003, Equinox has grown from a two person operation to 34 employees. 40 percent of their business is with international clients.

Equinox Chemicals president Mark Grimaldi said  "We're excited about where we are going. And we're just trying to run as lean and efficiently as we can now. But we think that with the economy starting to turnaround a little bit, that the business is going to start to grow even faster than it has in the past."

He credits the S.B. A., state, and Chamber of Commerce with helping him get money to grow his business. He hopes to complete his plant expansion in the next year.
