ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany city leaders are mapping out a plan to search for a new Civic Center director.

John Mazzola turned in his resignation Friday.  He accepted a job in Kansas.

City leaders haven't picked an interim director yet, though Roger Burnett who works at the Civic Center served in that capacity for several months in 2006.

The city should start a search for a full-time replacement soon.

"We'll have to make a decision on how to best pursue this. In some cases with department heads we have used outside head hunters to assist us. We don't know if that will be necessary in this particular search but as soon as we make that decision we will go forward and try to find a new candidate," said Albany Asst. City Manager Wes Smith. @

The general salary for department heads in the city is around $80,000.
