ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A warning about what can happen if you don't buckle up your children properly. A wreck in Dougherty County Monday night sent six people to the hospital, including three children.
Thankfully, none of the injuries is life threatening.
Here's what happened. Jason Mashburn was driving south on Philema Road near Chehaw Park around 6:30 Monday night. Dougherty County Police say he was speeding, and his Honda Accord slammed into the back of a Chevrolet Silverado knocking it across the oncoming lanes and into a sign post.
A shaken up Lamar Potts was driving that truck.
"I was crossing the road, and everyone was coming the other way and I didn't want to get hit. I was really afraid. I started to cross and we did. It could have been a lot worse so I'm thankful," said Lamar Potts.
EMS rushed Mashburn, his wife, three children in their car and a passenger in the truck to the hospital. They're all expected to be okay.
Mashburn is charged with driving too fast for conditions, following too closely and three child safety restraint violations.
